The Essence of Songs of Conquest
Welcome to Songs of Conquest an unexpectedly good strategy game that I can’t seem to put down. This is a turn-based strategy come Adventure game inspired by the ’90s Classics. It operates under a turn-based formula with a really interesting but not too invasive combat system. Set on top of a strategy map where your goal is essentially to lead wielders. These Heroes of sorts commanders of armies across the world. It is very much a military conquest game but the story- based elements to it do add value and it’s an incredibly polished. Here we will explain unexpectedly good strategy. We’ll talk a little bit about what it is. What sets it apart from perhaps. Some of its most likely competitors such as Heroes of M and Magic. How the game plays the different modes that it offers and ultimately assess.
I’d like to talk about what this game actually is? As you will have noted already in my introduction it is a strategy game. You can jump in to these manual fights where you’ll lead your wielders. Army of units relatively simply stacked. As sort of all-in-one based on their unit type. You command them across a small Battlefield like this potentially assisted by Magic and spells indeed.
Songs of Conquest to buff your troops and you’ll move them along they will of course have their unique functions and playabilities right. So ranged units, melee units, so on and so forth. The game seems to really favor High Ground versus low ground and sort of that Dynamic element to the map but it really keeps it fairly straightforward.
Smooth Gameplay and Balanced Combat in Songs of Conquest
As you can see it’s not pulling a lot of overly complicated punches but what it does it does very well. It’s smooth, it’s bright, it’s engaging, it’s fun to play and the addition of magic and extra Buffs and benefits. As you move through the game make it all the more enjoyable beyond the combat though and while this is a military conquest game. The combat itself doesn’t necessarily take huge president. You can of course move through and really auto resolve everything. It’s actually about Kingdom management alongside that tactical combat.
One of the game’s other modes really focuses on that a little bit more perhaps. As you move across the dynamic world you can have multiple wielders or multiple sort of armies or parties. If you want to think about them that way, they’ll move across get gear upgrades. Really the desire here is to hunt down these crucial artifacts. These massive upgrades and of course ultimately control the world, control the map, control The Villages that you have. You can develop them with cities and infrastructures. There’s a little bit of an economic management.
A resource management and extraction system that is actually present in every setting. When I say a little bit of a system, I mean it’s a little bit present everywhere you go and that is ultimately experienced in the very sort of Kingdom management. The game is played across four different modes essentially you have a campaign mode. A story driven mode accompanied by this kind of combat. The story elements to the game are very good. There are currently two fully fledged campaign modes. There are more in the works.
Skirmish Battles, Multiplayer, and Modding Tools
The game has an incredibly, well optimized, well utilized mod integration. Actually, the same as humankind for adding additional stories. Additional campaigns into the game I’ll touch on that in just a minute but first it’s important to note there’s also a skirmish mode where you start in a settlement in a town and try Skirmish with a number of opposing factions to try and take it over. There are currently four sort of overall factions in the game. Each faction has its own sort of unique units from a roster of the same number and then within that you have access to different wielders or Heroes.
A small side note but that’s important to note that in the Skirmish mode that sort of Age of Empires very much Age of Empires like Skirmish mode. But in a song of Conquest Heroes of Might and Magic style and format approach to strategy. Game is very enjoyable and that bleeds through into the third mode which is multiplayer. Yes, this is an early access game and multiplayer is fully integrated. I’ll touch a little bit more on the development of how well that is in. It’s important to know that we’ve got it. We’ve got it locally and we’ve got it online and it’s here and again my testing is relatively limited.
In the fourth mod we will describe how to play? This game feature is that mod that level editing function itself. Whether you’re creating it just for your own experience or creating something to share with others. It’s important to know that the editor in this game is very impressive. If you’re editing your own campaign you can add in your own story and your own soundtrack to drive.
Now let’s talk a little bit about its Early Access State then we know the ways to play. Into Early Access the developers have said first and foremost that, this early access period will likely last for around 1 year but that depends on feedback from players. It’s a really important to note that this is an incredibly polished.
