Game Description

Overview

Portal, a single-player game from Valve, is set within the enigmatic Aperture Science Laboratories and has been praised for its innovation, promising players a unique and immersive experience. It transforms the way players navigate and interprets challenges, much like the Gravity Gun in *Half-Life 2*, which introduced new interactions with objects and environments.

Portal 2 builds upon the original’s success, blending inventive gameplay, engaging storylines, and captivating music that earned the first game over 70 awards and a devoted fanbase. In the single-player mode of Portal 2, players encounter new characters, fresh puzzle features, and a more expansive array of complex test chambers, while exploring uncharted sections of Aperture Science Labs and reconnecting with the occasionally menacing AI companion, GLaDOS.

Portal Stories: Mel is a fan-created, free mod for Portal 2 set within the Portal universe, where players follow Mel’s journey as she encounters a new personality core and faces an unknown threat to the Aperture facility.

Aperture Tag: The Paint Gun Testing Initiative is another community-made mod for Portal 2, inspired by TAG! The Power of Paint. This mod introduces the Aperture Science Paint Gun Device, which contains Portal 2’s signature gels, allowing players to experiment in new ways across 27 carefully crafted levels.

Thinking with Time Machine, a mod for Portal 2, introduces a Time Machine that lets players create a past version of themselves to assist in solving puzzles. The “past self” mimics the player’s actions, adding a fresh layer to the Portal experience.
